LANCE found himself no longer wanted, as the ‘owners’ said they had not
got time to look after him as they had to leave him for long hours while
they were out at work and because he had become unclean in their house,
he was housed in their outbuilding in their garden whilst they were not
at home.
It is hardly surprising that any dog left shut in a house for several
hours would need to empty their bladder&bowels when not able to have
access to outdoors!!.
They had acquired Lance one year earlier for free, from Norwich
Greyhound breeder/owner/trainer, Bryan Everette, who had shabby kennels
in Norwich where not only his racing and unwanted Greyhounds were kept
but those of other Greyhound racing owners and trainers.
We are so used to hearing any reason possible as to why people no longer
want their animals, so the best thing was to get Lance signed over to
AFG and get him settled into his foster home.
He was happy in his foster home with the company of other dogs including
small dogs, he was so gentle he was safe with all dogs and friendly with
adults and children.
We noticed Lance had fleas and after a nice bath he was treated for
fleas, a few days later for worms.
Once Lance had settled into his foster home, he was neutered.
In October he found his wonderful forever home, sadly due to the couples
marriage breakdown in 2009, Lance had to come back to the care of AfG.
Luckily we had a foster home for Lance with the company of rescued
Greyhound Annie and cat Blackie.
It was decided that Lance could stay in this home as a permanent foster
with AfG funding any future vet care he needed, we felt in his senior
years it would not be right to home him again as he was so happy and
settled.
Photos below Lance when we picked him up, happier and healthier after
rescue and settling into his new home.
Photos above show Lance in his senior years happy with his housemates
Annie and Blackie.
