ALFIE(2)
Sex/colour: Male blue fawn brindle ( rough coated)
D.O.B: approx 2005 to 2006
Breed: Lurcher poss Whippet- Bedlington terrier-Collie mix
Came to AfG: May 2007
ALFIE(2) came to the care of AfG once his statutory time had ended in a
stray kennels.
The kennels were pleased we could take him and place him into a foster
home rather than in another kennel environment, as they stated he had
not been happy at their kennels, he was hardly eating and was very timid
and upset by the noise from other dogs at the kennels.
Archie settled well in his foster home, he went to a very experienced
couple who had fostered for AfG before as well as for other rescues but
at the time, Alfie was the only hound.
This did not matter as often one of the fosterers worked from home so
Alfie was barely left at home alone and he really appreciated the
kindness, care and attention he received.
He had a large garden to explore, run and play.
He was a hoarder and would pick up anything belonging to his fosterers
and place them in a big pile at the corner of their living room.
Once settled fed and had a short walk around the area so he could become
familiar with his new surroundings, Alfie had a much needed bath, we
doubt he had ever experienced this before but did enjoy the drying off
and a zoomy around the garden afterwards.
Alfie went on various walks and was sociable with all people he met and
with all other dogs.
Another couple who had fostered for AFG before, saw Alfie on one of
their walks and he responded well to their hounds, 2 Sighthounds and a
Terrier.
The couple had a friend who had recently lost her senior rescued hound
and was looking for another rescued Sighthound as a companion for her
female rescued Lurcher.
A homecheck and introductions went very well and once Alfies necessary
veterinary care including neutering was complete, he settled into his
forever home.
Our vet estimated Alfie to be fairly young between age 12 to 18 months.
He went on to enjoy many adventures and great experiences.
Photos below show Alfie when rescued enjoying a meal (not so much
enjoying a bath!).
Above photos show Alfie happy and healthy after being adopted.
