LULU  came to AfG from a young man who had thought it would be a ‘fun
hobby’ to own and race Greyhounds.

It was not long until he decided it was an industry he would rather no
be involved with.

He had four young black female Greyhounds who had all been well cared
for (an unusual experience for AfG to take in healthy Greyhounds).

He had kennels and paddocks built for them, so they had each others
company and access to free exercise and daily walks.

They often visited his home which he shared with his parent, so they all
had some experience of inside a house.

He did not want to hand any of his Greyhounds over to the homing kennels
attached  to Yarmouth stadium, or to any rescue kennels.

He contacted AfG as he knew we were Greyhound/Sighthound knowledgeable
and placed our dogs into foster homes not kennels.

He planned to keep two of the Greyhounds as pets but later decided to
only keep one of them. (see also: MOLLY and VIKKI ‘dogs homed’:
Greyhounds).

Lulu was age 5 and compared to Molly and Vikki was very timid.

We soon found a foster home for Lulu with the company of a gentle female
Golden Retriever, the foster carer had previously fostered another AfG
rescued Greyhound (Jade).

Lulu had a nice garden to exercise in and settled in well with her
canine housemate who was very kind and confident, though this helped
Lulu slightly out on walks, the foster carer realised Lulu was a little
unsure near traffic and anywhere too busy, so she took to walking her
early mornings and evenings when quieter, though Lulu was most happy in
her home and garden, perhaps because she was previously used to growing
up in a more rural area.

Sadly the promise from her racing owner of making a donation to AfG to
cover neutering costs did not transpire.

Once Lulu had time to settle into her foster home, AfG had her neutered.

After a short time and recovered from her neutering, Lulu found her
wonderful forever home.

Sadly she didn’t settle well on days out but again enjoyed the space in
the huge garden.

Her adopters were active retirees and did not go out too much or go on
many holidays, on the odd occasions they did, Lulu was cared for by a
live in pet sitter.

Lulu still got the company of other dogs on a regular basis, as when
other family members visited, they all brought along their own dogs.

Lulu enjoyed the perfect set up in her forever home and soon settled
into a great life which suited her.
