MOLLY came to AfG from a young man who had thought it would be a ‘fun
hobby’ to own and race Greyhounds.
It was not long until he decided it was an industry he would rather no
be involved with.
He had four young black female Greyhounds who had all been well cared
for (an unusual experience for AfG to take in healthy Greyhounds).
He had kennels and paddocks built for them, so they had each others
company and access to free exercise and daily walks.
They often visited his home which he shared with his parent, so they all
had some experience of inside a house.
He did not want to hand any of his Greyhounds over to the homing kennels
attached to Yarmouth stadium, or to any rescue kennels.
He contacted AfG as he knew we were Greyhound/Sighthound knowledgeable
and placed our dogs into foster homes not kennels.
He planned to keep two of the Greyhounds as pets but later decided to
only keep one of them. (see also: LULU and VIKKI ‘dogs homed’: Greyhounds).
Molly was age 4 and a real character, she had been introduced to other
breeds, which was good as we had a suitable foster home for her with a
little female terrier, Flossie.
The couple had recently lost their rescued Lurcher from old age leaving
Flossie without a canine companion.
Molly had a huge garden to run free in and enjoyed Flossies company.
She went on great walks, visited the beach and thoroughly enjoyed her
new adventures.
Sadly the promise from her racing owner of making a donation to AfG to
cover neutering costs did not transpire.
Once Molly had time to settle into her foster home, AfG had her neutered.
Mollys foster carers were totally smitten with her and as she had built
up a strong bond with Flossie, they decided to adopt her, so she carried
on enjoying life in her forever home.
Photos below show Molly when she came to AfG, settling into her home and
with Flossie, the lovely pair were affectionately known as ‘The Moll and
the Floss.
Photos above show stunning Molly over the years in her forever home and
one featured on an AfG calendar (photoed by William Moore).
