LILY (1)
Sex/colour: Female white
D.O.B: late 2011
Breed: Whippet cross ( predominantly Whippet with Jack Russell)
Came to AfG: November 2012
LILY (1) Came into our care after we had been approached by a man on
one of our fundraising stalls.
We saw she was underweight, timid with dirty stained fur.
We had a small dog jumper on the stall so the man put it on Lily.
He said he had brought her from a man who bred several dogs, including,
Spaniels, Whippets and Terriers as he felt sorry for her.
He said he was looking for a home for her as he didn’t want to take her
back to the property she came from, as it was dirty and none of the dogs
were well looked after.
We collected Lily from the man the following day, as we had a suitable
foster home for her.
First she had a vet appointment who concluded ( from her bodily smell)
the yellow/brown staining over the bottom section of Lilys body was
urine and other dirt staining.
Lily then had a much needed bath followed by flea treatment.
Lily then went to settle into her foster home, where she received all
the love and care she needed.
We established from the information the man gave us, he had only had her
for a few days and was told she was one year of age.
As there was no sign of her starting her menstrual cycle, just over one
week later, Lily was neutered.
Her foster carers had recently lost their 2 elderly Whippets within
quite a short space of each other so were looking to adopt another hound
and Lily suited them perfectly, so her foster home became her forever home.
She developed into such a loving character and was adored by all who met
her.
We did contact the RSPCA giving them details of the property where Lily
was acquired from and showed them photos of Lily when rescued and her
vets notes.
We heard nothing from them, so we are unaware if they visited or took
any action.
About a year later, we were approached by a lady who spoke of her
neighbors breeding and keeping dogs in awful conditions, whereby she and
other neighbors raised concerns and complaints to the council, the
result being there were no more dogs being bred on that property. ( this
was in fact the property Lily had came from).
So we were relieved to hear this.
Lily was another lucky little hound to have been in the right place at
the right time when we first met her.
