LILY(2) was an unclaimed stray and although ear tattooed and a
racing history found, she was not microchipped (which became law in 2010
including racing Greyhounds).
Lily (named by AfG) was age 9 when she came into our care and we had a
perfect foster home for a gentle senior hound.
Dear Lily was in a state of neglect, underweight, hair loss on parts of
her body, with dry itchy skin, with decayed teeth with large build up of
tartar.
After her pre booked vet visit and parasite treatment, Lily settled into
her foster home.
She settled quickly and ate well, went on several short walks to explore
her new area and had a much needed bath.
Once Lily gained weight she received a much needed dental and was neutered.
As Lily was a senior hound and was so happy and settled in her home, AfG
decided she could stay there on a permanent foster basis with AfG
covering any future vet treatment needed.
Lily was good with all people and children and other dogs, she enjoyed
her many adventures and slept with her carer on her bed and was never
far from her side.
Her carer had not had a Greyhound before but had met a lady with an AfG
adopted hound, so we had already done her homecheck, then once Lily
arrived we knew they would be perfect together.
It is not known why Lily was allowed to endure such neglect and abuse or
what became of her after the last of her 108 races at Wimbledon
02.02.2013 (the 1st race being 18.06.2010)!!
Perhaps as Wimbledon Greyhound track had just closed down (March 2017)
when Lily was found abandoned in 2017…perhaps Greyhounds were just
being offloaded!!.
Dear Lily ( as is the case of so many) waited so many years to find a
life of love, respect and adventure).
