MILLY
Sex/colour: Female tan and black
D.O.B: approx 2008
Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Chihuahua cross
Came to AfG: April 2015
MILLY was supposedly the litter sister of two we rescued the following
year (see: TREACLE and SUKI).
Milly had a home waiting and would have the company of a large rescued
dog, we already knew she was sociable with other dogs as there were
several residing in and outdoors of the property she came from.
Although happy in her new home, Milly didn’t seem keen to eat and seemed
very lethargic, sleeping a lot, her abdomen looked distended.
The following day, she had a vet check and our vet was concerned from
what we told her and agreed Millys abdomen was painful.
She was treated for worms, as we had already treated her for fleas.
The next day, Milly seemed more uncomfortable and now with a raised
temperature, so back to the vets, where she stayed for blood tests and
an ultrasound scan.
Our vet immediately proceeded to carry out neutering as she discovered
Millys womb was badly infected and swollen with the womb disease pyometra.
As has often been the case, another lucky dog to have been in the right
place at the right time, had she not come into the care of AfG and
straight into a very experienced home, her fate would have been unthinkable.
So once recovered from her operation, dear Milly just improved so
quickly and became playful, happy, enjoyed her new walks and adventures
and her food.
About 1 year later, when Suki and Treacle came into our care and once
they had been settled into a new home, we arranged for all 3 to meet,
they seemed to all recognise each other and had a happy time.
