ITZY had been left at the notorious Ennis dog pound in County Clare,
Ireland, then known to have a high ‘kill rate’of Greyhounds and Lurchers
(mostly after just 24 hours) as they are not recognized as family pets
in certain parts of Ireland.
Her trainer left her there stating “it’s no good, it’s too small it
won’t win races” she was only 17 months of age and he would have known
her fate by leaving her there.
Fortunately, she was another lucky Greyhound to be saved from this place
by Clare Greyhound Project.
Arrangements were made for her to come to the care of AfG.
Itzy acquired her name (Itzy bitsy teeny weeny) as she was so small for
a Greyhound weighing only 20kg.
She was shut down when she arrived but soon improved once made welcome
by other rescued hounds in her foster home.
Itzy particularly bonded with one young rescued Greyhound in the foster
home named Zen, previously also rescued from Ennis pound by Clare
Greyhound Project (see: ZEN Greyhounds homed).
He is such a laid back hound and she seemed to just follow him and be
with him so much.
Itzy soon settled and enjoyed life in a family home and her many adventures.
She accompanied AfG on many events along with other hounds and just
adored all the public attention she received.
She steadily improved physically and mentally and blossomed into a happy
healthy hound. Her foster home soon became her forever home where she
enjoys a life of love, respect, adventure and fun.
Photos below show Itzy when she arrived from Ireland, settling into her
family home, out with Zen and enjoying being on AfG events.
Photos above show Itzy, the stunning happy little hound she transformed
into.
